About the Firm

      As the son of a career military officer, Bob Stommel lived in three countries and seven states by the time he graduated from high school. After high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a four-year Army ROTC scholarship, where he obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Personnel Management. As a result of his business law courses at UW-Madison, he became interested in obtaining a law degree and after graduation moved to Indianapolis to attend the Indiana University School of Law. While in law school, he met and married his wife, Jayne, who convinced him to stay in Indianapolis as a converted Hoosier.

      Bob has been practicing law in Indiana for over 30 years. After serving as a managing partner in a medium-sized litigation firm in downtown Indianapolis for many years, he left that firm in 1999 to form Stommel Law Group in order to concentrate his practice on employment law, business and commercial law, environmental law, litigation, and mediation. Although most of his clients are located in the central part of the state, he has handled cases and advised clients in almost every county in Indiana.

      Bob regularly represents clients in federal and state courts and before federal and state administrative agencies. He has tried cases in five states, has represented clients in numerous state and federal trial and appellate courts around the country, and has served as state and regional trial counsel for several Fortune 500 companies.
